Jim and Elise Donovan.jpg

Jim is an artist/educator/actor/director who has had artwork featured in the Monmouth County Arts Council's recent shows Out of the Blue  and Sanctuary. In his acting career, Jim played lead and character roles, in regional theaters and in television and film. Connection to community has always been a big part of Jim's work.  He has provided dynamic and engaging talks to schools and community groups about the Solstices, about the Viking explorations of Lans Aux Meadows, and about local history. He is also a practiced carpenter, craftsman, and mason, an award-winning gardener and skilled bow hunter. Visit jamesthomasdonovan.com

Elise is a writer and recently retired professor of English and Dean of Arts and Humanities at Union County College. 

As a dedicated parents of two children, Jim and Elise  have been engaged in their local community bringing theater to the schools as well as working with other area residents on environmental and artistic causes. Jim initiated an annual Music and Arts Festival that thrived for ten seasons, served on the township Planning Board for five years, was recipient of the 2005 Monmouth County Volunteer of the Year award. Elise served as President of a local environmental organization, earning an award for service from the NY/NJ Baykeeper.
